On the morning of Wednesday, December 4, 2024, Carrinho had the great honor of hosting the inaugural Summit of the U.S. and Angolan-led Global Infrastructure Partnership (PGI) on the Lobito Trans-African Corridor. This occasion marked a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase what we have been doing and reinforces our vision to become Africa’s leading company, driving progress through agribusiness.
We are excited by President Biden’s announcement, which highlights the U.S. government’s support for our initiative to build one of the largest agricultural infrastructure projects in Africa, which will impact more than a quarter of the Angolan population and create a market for more than two million smallholder farmers. In November 2024, the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) signed a non-binding Letter of Interest to consider a loan that would support our ability to purchase and install grain storage equipment, increasing access to facilities for more farmers along the rail corridor and major hubs. Upon completion of the project, Grupro Carrinho will be the largest agricultural network ever built on the continent. This will allow Angola to strengthen its position as one of the continent’s future agricultural leaders, realizing President Biden’s vision of bringing food security and greater connectivity to the region.
This reinforces CART’s VISION 2030 and keeps our company on track to become the continent’s leader across the agricultural value chain. Most importantly, this project will enable Carrinho to become a key player in the fight to eradicate poverty and make food security an achievable goal for Angolan families.
