Today is really a milestone in the history of our organization, after having inaugurated in 2019 the Cart Industrial Park in Benguela, a project that today allows 3,600 (three thousand and six hundred) employees to be part of the Cart universe; as part of the Production Support, Export Diversification and Import Substitution Program, Cart Empreendimentos, SA (“CART”), is very proud to announce the implementation of a project consisting of the construction and operation of an industrial complex (the “Project”) consisting of:
1. A factory extracting 4 (four) thousand tons of soybeans per day or 2 (two) thousand tons of sunflower per day;
2. A Sugar Refinery with a capacity of 3 (three) thousand tons per day of ICUMA150 and ICUMA45 sugar;
3. A Glucose Plant with a capacity of 500 tons per day;
4. A Silo Center with a capacity of 300 thousand tons;
5. A distribution center with 50 thousand square meters;
The project will provide more than 1000 direct jobs, in addition to the significant increase in indirect jobs in the medium and long term.
This Project, which we consider structuring, will be implemented in Benguela, being the result of 2 (two) years of intense work, including technical, engineering, economic and commercial studies, which included the companies Andreotti (Italian), BMA (German) and TECNIMIL (Portuguese), and will enable Angola to become not only self-sufficient, but also an exporter of sugar, in the next 24 months. soybean flour, soybean oil crude, sunflower and glucose.
For its implementation, CART has the support of the Angolan Government which, through the Development Bank of Angola (BDA), under the Deutsche Bank Credit Line, guarantees the financing of the entire component related to the acquisition of equipment, in a total amount of €113,000,000.00 (one hundred and thirteen million Euros) corresponding to 32.84% of the total cost of the Project.
This is a remarkable moment, which we are very proud of and which really represents the maximum confidence of the Executive and the BDA to the Angolan private sector.
The project also has the support of Banco de Fomento Angola (BFA), which kindly finances the local component, including basic infrastructure works and civil construction works of the oilseed oil extraction factory, the sugar refinery and other projects. Therefore, we reiterate, we are very proud.
This project, whose quality and technical, economic and financial feasibility has been attested by the BDA, Deutsche Bank, SACE (Italian Government Credit Agency), and Euler Hermes (German Government Credit Agency), demonstrates the organization’s ability to attract investments in the highest standard of global demand.
On the other hand, the very positive results of the implementation and operationalization of the company’s industrial complex in Benguela, give us the full conviction that this Project will also be a success, which will enable not only the full repayment of the financing granted by the banks, but fundamentally create new jobs and the development of other projects that are part of the company’s business portfolio. among which we highlight the ongoing investment of USD: 6,000,000.00 (six million US dollars) in the expansion of packaging lines, especially small packaging.
CART’s commitment is to Angola and Angolans, effectively contributing to the food and nutritional self-sufficiency of Angolans.
BECAUSE ANGOLA DESERVES THE BEST!
